Social Media Management for a Sustainable Business Directory in London
Helping a micro non-profit sustainability training platform increase their visibility
WHAT THEY NEEDED
Blue Patch is the UK’s No. 1 Sustainable Business Directory, a non-profit offering net zero training and community networking.
They have a very limited budget for marketing but needed help to achieve their goal of training more micro businesses on carbon reduction.
When we first started working together, Blue Patch was active on Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter) and Linkedin. They subsequently moved away from X and have since started an account on BlueSky.
Blue Patch had an initial brand identity that has recently been redeveloped by a professional designer.

WHAT I DID
Strategy
I developed an initial strategy for Blue Patch to make the most of their limited budget, content and time. We initially prioritised Instagram as the platform where most of the community spent their time. Posts are shared to other platforms.
Content planning
I created a calendar that could be shared with other staff and volunteers with individual cards for each planned post. These include sharing our community’s posts and promotional posts for our own events and training.
Copywriting and creative
All the copy for the social media posts is written to promote sustainability in our community and showcase the work that SMEs are doing in the UK to reduce carbon emissions and trade ethically. Creative work includes graphic design and video editing.
Results
Over six years, Blue Patch’s Instagram account has grown year-on-year every year on a tiny budget with limited resources, follower numbers have increased and there is a high level of engagement on Instagram.
