There’s a race to the bottom in the social media management sector that’s been happening for years but is highlighted by a recent Black Friday special offer I’ve seen – £49 for social media management.
This is a discounted rate for the first month, then the rate rises to £79 per month. It’s very attractive to a small business owner who doesn’t want to spend hours each week on social media.
Here is what £49 / £79 buys you – ten posts a month, so approximately 2 posts per week using a template. No videos, reels, stories, carousels, etc. Those are all extra.
Optimal posting on most platforms requires daily posting, so you are already at £219 (the premium package).
Reels at £79 for four a month or £149 for eight a month, approx twice a week.
Stories from £49 for ten, £89 for twenty, £129 for thirty, 2-7 a week.
Carousels are £5 each, say 4 per month.
Reports are £12 a month.
That’s £529 per month.
It’s true that it is really nice to have a fixed price to pay each month (all my prices are fixed).
But here is the kicker. Social media algorithms do not reward templated posts. And audiences scroll past them because they look like ads.
There are so many other factors that contribute to success on social media. They should all be part of a social media strategy that is tailored to your brand. That’s what you pay me for. Not to push out content every month.
