There are thousands of ranking factors that affect your website’s position on Google (Matt Cutts). No-one knows the exact number and can claim to list them all. Google has always been very careful not to disclose them as that would be, in effect, giving away its business.
I’m not going to be covering every ranking factor that I am aware of in this short guide, but I will be giving you some ideas for major ranking factors that you can work on in your business. Note that I have said business and not website. SEO involves more than just optimising a website, as you will see in later sections.
